Lord, ha' mercy

I'm nuts, nuts I tell ya!  (Most any friend, relative, or acquaintance can and will confirm this!)  I'm just too blasted old to work 18 hours at a time.  Not only does it drain me physically and mentally, it seriously cuts into my stitching time.  And yet I persist *sigh*.  I wish I didn't love my staff and residents so much.  It sure would make life easier!  Will get a few stitches on some ornaments today, and I'm waiting (im)patiently for my thread to arrive to start Highland Garden.  I ordered from ABC 10 days ago, and it's still not here.  It was the only need 123 didn't stock! (of course).  Enough blithering and complaining.  Going to take a nap.  Have a great weekend!

Crazy, y'all

This nurse is indeed crossed!!  Our census at our nursing facility is absolutely dismal.  We have 20 empty beds.  The hospitals in the area are seriously empty--that's usual for the end of  summer, people put off elective surgeries til fall, etc.  But..this is the lowest we've been in the 5 years I've worked here.  Pray it picks up soon!  On the other hand.......more stitching time!  We're encouraged to take extra time off, and I'm obliging this week. I'm going to try my hand at "Highland Garden" by Keslyn's.  I just fell in love with it, and, even tho there's not one cross stitch on it, I must go for it.  Kind of like an Oreo. Know what I mean?  It fills me with such joy to rush out to the mailbox in anticipation of the nice, neat fabrics and threads for a new creation.  As I drool my way back up the drive and into the house, the cat greets me with a shake of the little kitty head and a roll of the little kitty eyes.  She doesn't get it.  Like I don't get catnip. :)

Pffffft!!!

Since there's a short break in my (loosely termed) work hours, now seems a good time to get in the bloggin' frame of mind.  Never blogged before.  Been too busy meshing the worlds of healthcare and needlework.  So, at 52 years old, I've slid on in to cyberspace. Beware. This nurse gets cross!! I'm a huge fan of counted cross stitch (no, this is not necessarily a reference to my body type ;)    and I have realized of late that it's time to try to dig my way out of my huge pile of stash.  I think the cat's in there somewhere.  I've had my eye on a little canvaswork too.... No, no.  Bad nurse. But then, why not?  Variety is, after all, the spice of life.  Not to toot my own horn, but I've become an expert rationalizer.  I can turn ANY want into a bonafide need, yes indeed!  Besides, there's still some floor space left!  Put that in your smipe and poke it!!!
